The 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is a completely redesigned little bugger. Which is great because Hyundai seems to be taking steps in the right direction as a brand. Along with the new 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport, you get the Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport. The GT model is pretty much just a hatchback Elantra Gt Sport. But, I think it looks fantastic. Hyundai’s U.S. product head Scott Margason described the Elantra Gt Sport as “a true hot hatch,” but we won’t be certain about that until we drive one. Based on the specs, the Elantra Gt Sport doesn’t seem quite at the level of the 220-HP Volkswagen Golf GTI or the 252-HP Ford Focus ST.
But even against the base Golf, Honda Civic Sport, and the Mazda3 S, it goes up against some stiff hatchback competition. For years, the Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport has been the ugliest, stubbiest, cheapest looking thing I could think of…besides the Accent. I could never understand why people bought Elantra Gt Sport’s honestly. Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport’s were pretty ghastly inside and out. Apart from being great on gas, there is nothing remotely nice to say about the previous Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport. In the world of cars, Hyundai is just kind of present. So, they need some serious excitement to actually gain some market share. They’ve been popular in-car cultures that don’t care about what they drive or have little self-esteem for years, but that doesn’t work in countries like England or the United States.
The outside of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is fantastic. This makes me very happy, since I’m so used to seeing the most disappointing design’s from Hyundai. Hyundai has always made cars for people who legitimately didn’t care how they looked, excluding the Genesis models (not the coupe) and Veloster, which is a pretty cool hatch. But, the Elantra Gt Sport has always been among the least desirable cars out there, which is not good for the brand. However, the new car looks great. The new grille on the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is much larger and makes the nose look much better.
The head lights look like they’re being pulled in by the gravity of the grille, and there are some really nice lines to compliment the front intakes and fog lights. My favorite part about the front of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is the fact that it isn’t cluttered for too fussy looking. The previous generation of the Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport had one of the most pitiful front ends I’ve ever seen, so this new one looks even better when you consider that the last car and this car are from the same company. There aren’t too many lines or slashes at all up front. You get a big grille, attractive eyes and hard dimples. That’s pretty much it. I don’t think any other design would have fit the economy hatchback as this one does, so hats off to Hyundai for once!
The side and back of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport coincide with the front end of the car. The simplicity is something to be admired. Hyundai went with a hatchback design for the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport, and it looks pretty much as perfect as it gets. The rear end almost looks like it has some rosy cheeks with the way the reflectors are placed underneath the tail lights. It looks great. The new interior for the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is a huge step above the previous generations interior. Hyundai has gotten much more serious for their cars interiors, and it shows well. However, there are still some issues to be had here. Hyundai incorporated buttons and knobs on the screen for infotainment. While this isn’t that big of an issue given the kind of car the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport, I can’t help but think of how much cleaner the screen would look with those knobs elsewhere.
The screen is the only bit that looks cheap inside the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport, which is great for a compact economy car. There are plenty of technologies in here as well, cleanly laid out and easy to understand. The new steering wheel is sporty and has plenty of mounted controls. It looks much more upscale than what you’d expect from a Hyundai. Especially from an Elantra Gt Sport. The 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport’s interior reminds me a lot of the interior we see on new Mazda models. This is perfectly fine, since those interiors are gorgeous. Hyundai didn’t copy Mazda, as the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport has it’s own flavor. You can seat 5 adults inside the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport comfortably. And now, everyone looks a lot more styling than they did in the previous generation.
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport comes with an option of two engines. A 2.0 L four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine is standard, and a 1.6 L turbocharged four-cylinder is an option. From the base engine, you will be able to get around 170 HP, and the upgraded engine gets 200. However, the previous generation of the Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport got a bit more power out of the base engine…Interesting. But, you can get a seven speed dual-clutch automatic as an option, which is also interesting. It is insane to think what was once Formula One technology is now available in a car like the Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport. A six speed manual can be found in base trims for those first-time drivers that should be focusing on shifting rather than texting. While we don’t know the fuel economy ratings for the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport, we should expect some very good numbers from the small hatch.
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra Gt Sport is a great looking car, which is VERY rare to say about a Hyundai. I’m excited to see what else Hyundai can spawn from here. We should expect a release date later this spring.
